June 30, 2026 # Show IH: Dextra — an AI desktop companion that works across your entire computer

Over the last few months I've been building Dextra, an AI desktop companion with a simple goal:

Computers shouldn't just understand clicks. They should understand intent.

Instead of living inside a browser tab, Dextra is designed to work across the entire desktop. The long-term vision is an AI that understands your screen, your voice, and your workflow, helping you complete tasks across applications rather than inside a single chat window.

It's still in early alpha, so this isn't a launch of a finished product. I'm sharing it now because I'd rather validate the direction early than spend months building features nobody wants.

I'm particularly trying to answer a few questions:

  • Would something like this become part of your daily workflow?

  • What's the first capability you'd expect from an AI desktop companion?

  • What's missing from existing tools like Copilot, Raycast, or ChatGPT that you'd want Dextra to solve?

I'm looking for honest criticism, not compliments. If you think the idea is flawed, I'd genuinely like to know why.

Every piece of feedback will influence what I build next.

Thanks for taking a look.
