Directual has always been a perfect choice for low-coding a backend of a web or mobile app. But, bearing in mind our motto to “let people create”, we started working on Directual Web-page builder. Moreover, we decided to make it open-source—to let every front-end developer be able to build new web-components for interface constructor. So, meet Directual Design — the basic open-source React-components library!

By the public launch date we had reworked the whole platform: updated interface, added new features (based on beta-testing feedback) and prepared for scaling.
Directual still was not a piece of cake. To help our users get on-boarded we rolled out Directual Academy with comprehensive video-tutorials.

By 2019 Directual had proved that the platform was a reliable and flexible technology. Applying Directual, a citizen developer (not a professional software engineer) could manage to build the whole back-end of a business-critical IT-system. But that was not our final goal.
Directual is the mission-driven company. We are going to let people create! And the next step seemed obvious for us—we started preparing Directual cloud platform for the mass market.

We started working with a giant telecommunication firm MTS (operates in Russia and Europe). They were surprised when the first project (a web-based marketplace for non-liquid assets) was launched within two weeks.
That allowed us to test and improve the platform's stability and scalability.

It appeared to be harder than we expected to create an MVP for setting up a database, API to it and workflows for data processing.
Directual 'Scenarios' for data processing weren't BPMN-like processes, but much simpler. We decided to follow the original approach to workflow automation. There are abstract entities (objects) and scenario steps (actions and conditions). Any business logic can de composed in such a way.!

In 2014 my mate Nikita and I were building enterprise software. The development often got stuck due to backend part. It took too long to add some logic and update API-layer.
So we decided to create a product for fast and flexible visual backend development.
