DMflo

Agentic Instagram automation platform for creators and brand

August 6, 2026 Every Instagram DM tool charges you more when your content does well. I'm building the one that doesn't.

Building DMflo, an Instagram DM automation tool. Pre-launch, ~2k on the waitlist, backend not built yet. So this is a "here's my thinking, tell me where it's wrong" post rather than a launch.

The market is crowded and I went in anyway

ManyChat, LinkDM, CreatorFlow, InstantDM, ChatAutoDM. Some of them are good. CreatorFlow has 14k users, a Meta Tech Provider badge, and a free plan with 500 DMs/month at $15/mo flat. That's a real product with real distribution and I'm not pretending otherwise.

What made me build anyway: almost all of them price per contact. Your Reel does 2M views, your bill goes up. You get charged for the thing you were trying to make happen. ManyChat repriced in March and made this worse — free tier is now 25 active contacts and 4 automations, which is barely a demo.

But flat pricing alone is a weak moat. CreatorFlow already does it at the same $15. So that's not the bet.

The actual bet

Two things.

First: people don't type in clean English. They switch languages mid-sentence, mix scripts, spell however. Every tool I've tried treats that as noise, because they're keyword engines underneath — someone asks a real buying question in mixed script, the keyword doesn't match, they get nothing or a generic FAQ reply. I've watched this happen in comment sections repeatedly and it's a visible lost sale every time.

Second: these tools make you do the thinking. You map the branches, guess the keywords, maintain the flowchart. That's the actual work, and the tool hands it back to you. I think a lot of people who "tried automation and quit" didn't quit because it was too expensive — they quit at the flow builder.

So DMflo reads intent instead of matching keywords, replies in your voice, triages the comment section (hides spam and scam links), and hands you the conversation when someone's actually upset rather than cheerfully making it worse.

Where I'm honestly unsure

  • Platform risk. This is a Meta API business. App Review is a gate I haven't cleared, and a policy change could end it. I don't have a good answer for this beyond "everyone in this category has the same exposure."

  • Unit economics. Flat price + LLM inference per conversation = my costs scale with usage while revenue doesn't. At $15/mo that's a real hole. I have a model but not proof.

  • Whether the language thing is a business or a feature. I believe it's underserved. I can't yet prove people will switch tools for it.

What I'd like from you

If you've used any DM automation tool: what made you stop? I'm most interested in people who signed up and never finished setup. That's the group I think I'm building for, and it's the hardest group to find after the fact.

~2k on the waitlist before the backend exists is meaningful interest.

Have you spoken with enough of those people yet to learn whether the reason they joined is actually the same reason you think they’ll use DMflo?

Yes, I think the website is pretty clear so I am assuming they are interested what I am offering. Backend and everything is complete now, Just waiting for Meta app approval and then will be emailing and reaching out to all waitlist people and let their usage tell me what are they really after

That’s a useful update. I’d be interested in continuing the conversation beyond the thread — would you be open to sharing the best email to reach you on?
