First sale! ๐ŸŽ‰

It only took a few days from someone to place a first order! It's only $10, but still I feel like I've accomplished something useful that people can appreciate and pay for.
We've added a paywall only to documents that exceed 5,000 words, so most people could still use it completely free for smaller documents. 5,000 is a very generous amount. For 300 words per page on average, that's over 10 pages for free!

Congrats... remember you've built something of value, so don't sell yourself short with the 5,000+ word document fee.

Do you have a lot of competitors which requires you to only charge after 5,000 words? How many users do you currently have utilizing all the freebie translations? If you have regular users, could you flip that into a monthly fee?

Thanks for your valid questions, Connor. We have BILLIONs of translation agencies competing for the money. Document translation market is oversaturated and attracting new customers at scale is insanely difficult.

Yes, I am a bit too generous at the moment and give away my tech rather free. However, I want to feed these freeloaders with free cheese so they could get used to it and re-use my tool routinely.

As for the SaaS pricing, I've tried to do it at my other startup: gglot.com and customers generally repelled it hard. Subscriptions are only okay in the US and parts of Europe, but we work in Russia, Brazil, China... you get the picture. People abhor it and can't accept this business model.

Sounds like you know your target market... best of luck!

Well, you may want to start with your UI. I wouldn't use a translation service which can't translate properly its own interface (to Russian, in this case).

Lol, sort of. It's like my tenth startup, so I am getting a little used to it.

Yesterday we've bought some Donkin Donuts coffee and donuts for the office. I made a quick rant to the employees, cheered them up and we went back to work, lol.
