February 27, 2025 Fixing a macOS annoyance Apple never did – Why I’m building DockLock Pro

For years, I struggled with one of the most frustrating macOS issues - the Dock randomly jumping between screens when using multiple monitors. Like many Mac users, I wanted the Dock to stay exactly where I put it, but macOS had other ideas.

I searched everywhere for a solution. Hundreds of posts on MacRumors, Reddit, and Apple’s own forums showed that users had been complaining about this issue for over a decade. Apple never fixed it. No built-in setting, no reliable workaround - just endless frustration.

Since Apple wasn’t going to fix it, I built DockLock Lite, the first app that prevents the Dock from moving between screens. It works without system modifications, hacks, or complicated setup. And it is available in Mac App Store.

But while DockLock Lite locks the Dock in place, I realized that some users need more than just locking - they actually want controlled movement. That’s where DockLock Pro comes in.

DockLock Pro is for power users who don’t just want to stop the Dock from jumping - but want to control where and when it moves.

• Move the Dock on demand – Hotkeys and menu options let you switch screens manually.

• Automation rules – The Dock can follow specific apps or appear where it’s most useful.

• Dock follows the mouse (only when you want it to) – Instead of moving randomly, it follows your workflow.

DockLock Pro exists to fix a macOS flaw Apple never addressed and to give users the flexibility to control their Dock exactly how they need it. No more frustration. No more unpredictable behavior. Just a Dock that works the way it should.

I’m working on DockLock Pro to fix a long-standing macOS annoyance by giving users full control over Dock movement.
