September 6, 2026 Launching DocTick: Solving Google Drive's missing "File Request" (50 Lifetime Codes)

Hey Indie Hackers! 👋

Today I’m publicly sharing DocTick (doctick.com)—a lightweight, passwordless client document intake portal built directly for Google Drive.

The Problem I Kept Seeing

Dropbox has offered native "File Requests" for years, but Google Drive still has a massive blind spot when it comes to collecting files from external clients:

  1. The Login Wall: If your client uses Outlook, Yahoo, or iCloud, shared Google Drive folders force them to create a Google account just to upload a file.

  2. The Security Hazard: Setting permissions to "anyone with the link can edit" means every client can view, delete, or overwrite everyone else’s confidential uploads.

  3. The Quota Trap: Files uploaded to shared folders count against the uploader's storage. If your client's free 15GB drive is full, their upload fails even if your business has 2TB of space.

  4. The Enterprise Trap: Platforms like TaxDome, FileInvite, and SmartVault charge 50–50–100+/mo per seat. Solo accountants, bookkeepers, and freelancers don't need a bloated ERP just to collect a few W-2s and receipts.

How DocTick Fixes It

  • 1-Click Checklist: You build an itemized checklist (e.g. "2025 W-2", "ID", "Jan Bank Statement") in 30 seconds.

  • Passwordless Magic Links: Clients get a clean, branded link on mobile or desktop. No accounts, no password resets—they just tap, snap a photo, and upload.

  • Direct Google Drive Streaming: Uploads stream straight into your organized Google Drive folder under your firm's storage quota.

  • Zero Server Storage Liability: We don’t store client files on our servers.

🎁 50 Lifetime Pro Passes for Indie Hackers

We have a free starter tier (up to 3 active requests), but I want genuine, unfiltered feedback from fellow builders on the UX, edge cases, and onboarding flow.

I've opened up 50 Lifetime Pro accounts for the IH community (no credit card required):

  1. Go to doctick.com and sign in with Google.

  2. Head to SettingsHave a Promo or Partner Code?

  3. Apply promo code: LIFETIMEPRO

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  • What feels confusing or clunky during onboarding?

  • What integrations or features would make this indispensable for your client workflows?
