Spent 1000$ on ProductHunt Ad

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey, community!

Last week I ran a ProductHunt ad using what they call the "Awareness model " (Placements - alternatives and topics pages)

So I spent the minimum amount, 1000$ during 3-5 days and this was the result:

๐Ÿ“ˆ 469 PH clicks vs 246 visitors (Matomo analytics) ๐Ÿง
0.70 CTR - 66.666 Impressions

โฌ‡๏ธ 4 users registered (Matomo)
0 Trials

Summary: An absolute disaster ๐Ÿ˜†
Maybe some users blocked Matomo using Brave or AdBlock, but disaster anyway

I am trying out some other alternatives to advertise the product. I'll let you know

This is my experience with ALL ad platforms so far. I suck at marketing though, I am probably doing something wrong, but I am pretty convinced all the traditional ad purchasing (from Google Ads, Reddit Ads, Fb Ads, etc.), mostly bring fake users and fake engagement and you need months of A/B testing and refining the ad copy, landing page, target audience and more before you can run a profitable ad campaign.

Now whenever I'm starting a new ad campaign, I am assuming that all money I put in it will be gambled and, as with gambling, the most likely outcome is to lose it.

Yep, it's a bit weird... I've tried Reddit ads too, and they said that I received 50 clicks and I just had 3 or 4 visitors to my analytics page... I know there are ad blockers but... come on

Thanks for sharing, and good luck with future experiments!

      Thank you!! โœจ

Thanks for this. I was already skeptical of PH's ad offering but was still wondering whether I was just being biased against them.

This is just my experience, I'm not saying that they are bad, maybe it's my product ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Damn! I think you can get much better results with us at https://lifetimo.com/ by offering a great lifetime deal.

It's difficult to set a lifetime deal with our business model

Still they charge that hefty amount! Thanks for sharing!

Wow that's indeed a failed experiment. Or PH ads that just sucks.

Have you tried with LinkedIn, FB, Google or IG? They might be cheaper and get better results.

    Good luck!

      It was ๐Ÿ˜†

Tried Google Ads and they always reject my ads... I assume that they don't like AI websites

Tried some low-budget ads on LinkedIn but just for a few clicks.

      Let's keep trying!

      1. 2

Yeah, experimentation is key! I have a twitter thread coming today about this topic ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wonder, have you done a PH release already? and If so, did you get better results than with the payed ad?

Yep, I did it some months ago and I got a lot more registers than a 1000$ ad ๐Ÿฅฒ
