Takes notes, stay productive and highly focused
André and I have spent some time discussing about open source. As a long time FOSS contributor, I would like to create a solution that is here to stay and contributes to a better world.
But André and I both have to make a living, we are working on this for profit. So we can't slap an MIT license on the project and move on. We have to think about the pros and cons of open sourcing our product (or making the source available).
We haven't decided yet, so we might end up going closed source; we'll see.
Meanwhile, we now have 70 persons on our wait list 🎉
This happened thanks to the popularity of the article I wrote to describe my current Indie Hacking toolkit (https://dsebastien.net/blog/2022-01-27-my-current-indie-hacking-toolkit). I initially wrote it as a post on IH, which hit the front page and was shared on the IH Newsletter yesterday.
I didn't expect a single mention to focusd in the post to have such an impact on the visits. Thanks to this visibility, we had 443 visitors in the last 7 days.
In total, we had 553 unique visitors on the landing page (including our own visits) since we've launched the landing page. Thus we have a conversion rate of ~8%. I don't know if it's any good, but it does look good to me!
This is a strong validation signal (or at least I want to interpret it as such). Now, André and I can focus on building the app.
Meanwhile we will continue our efforts to build the focusd community! ❤️

Today we have finally launched the first version of our landing page for focusd.
Our current goal with it is to build an audience, grow our wait list, but most importantly gather feedback.
This page should clearly explain the main benefits that focusd brings to the table, and is a key milestones for us!

We would like it if our Second Brain apps (Obsidian/Notion/WorkFlowy) gave us the ability to set time-blocks in which we can focus on our tasks and projects in a distraction free mode, and integrated with our calendars.
This is the app we're building. Think WorkFlowy + Calendar + Fabulous 🎉
We're looking for productivity focused people to interview. We'd be thrilled to discuss with you for ~30 minutes and understand your current "Getting Things Done" system.
Please send us an email if you'd like to share!
