Dokko
Document Assistant – Scan, Understand & Organize Documents
Germany is known for its bureaucracy. If you live here, you know the struggle. Official letters from tax offices, health insurance, landlords, banks. All written in a language that even native speakers barely understand.
I’ve met so many people who had no idea what to do with a letter they received. Expats who couldn’t tell if something was urgent or not. Friends who missed deadlines because they didn’t understand the fine print. People who paid for translations just to find out it was a simple confirmation letter.
That’s why I built Dokko. You scan any document with your phone camera and instantly get a clear explanation of what it says, what you need to do, and when. Everything gets organized into folders automatically. The app supports multiple languages so it works for anyone, no matter where they’re from.
The stack: React Native/Expo, TypeScript, RevenueCat for subscriptions. Fully bootstrapped, no funding, built everything myself during my apprenticeship.
Dokko is live on the App Store now. Would love to hear what you think and happy to answer any questions about building as a solo dev.
About
I kept getting official letters, tax notices, insurance, contracts and had to Google terms and track deadlines manually. So I built Dokko: scan any document and instantly know what it says and what to do next.

It is such a massive relief to finally have a tool that can translate "bureaucracy-speak" into actual human language, especially when missing a single deadline in a place like Germany can be so costly. Most expats don't realize that official letters often use specific legal phrasing that even standard translation apps struggle to interpret correctly, leading to unnecessary panic over simple confirmations.
Since Dokko detects deadlines and organizes paperwork automatically, does the app also provide a way to verify the "urgency level" of a letter so users know exactly which ones need an immediate response and which can wait until the weekend?
