November 18, 2021 Soft Launched Domain.io

Domain.io was in private beta for about two months and I just quietly opened up registrations. I've worked on this app full time since about March. I have a dozen or so early subscribers from the beta testers, and have received a lot of positive feedback from users. The app is built with Laravel, Livewire, AlpineJS, and Tailwind CSS. At the beginning I spent way too much time building complex UI components like Modals and Tables, would love to have that time back now. I wish I would have launched earlier with more of an MVP. I certainly would have prioritized many things differently.

I'm hoping to grow this to a full time business, but my target market is pretty small. I have previous experience running DomainHolder.io and it is tough to make money in an industry where the registrars give away most things for free. I am solving a unique pain point for those with larger portfolios -- to help automate listings in aftermarkets and identifying pricing discrepancies. Domain.io also offers attractive landing pages for domains among other helpful stuff like bulk DNS management of TXT records. I built it to solve my own lazyness as a domainer and it has been effective.

I am still ramping up capacity in the backend (lots of scheduled jobs and queues to optimize), and some important features aren't there yet. But I am ready to start marketing it more, starting with official launch announcement and reaching out to various domain industry outlets.

About

Managing a large domain portfolio (100+) is a serious pain. For maximum exposure and sales you need to have your domains listed in at least the top 3 aftermarkets: Afternic, Sedo, Dan. Domain.io automates those listings.
