January 13, 2023 We crossed 1,000 users

We've just hit 1,000 signed up users for EarlyBird, and we've added a real-time user count to our home page.

This is a small milestone for our small team, and we're looking forward to growing this number even further in 2023. We hope more customers will consider upgrading to paid plans in the future.

December 31, 2022 We secured our first paid customer even before we built a billing system.

One of the customer sent us an email on Dec 31th and tell us he want to upgrade to Superior plan ($8/mo) to unlock the features, and by that time, we don't even have a billing system to charge him.

This gave us much motivation and we think it's time to build a billing system.

December 28, 2022 We got 500 users in 3 days

We have acquired 500 users for EarlyBird (in just three days), it is a huge achievement for our tiny team, and we couldn't have done it without the support of our early adopters and the wider tech community of fellow makers and indie hackers.

We wrote an article on how we made it: https://earlybird.im/blog/how-we-acquired-500-users-in-3-days/

Thanks to Indie Hackers community, it was featured on the daily newsletter: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/whats-new-getting-your-first-100-users-0d7e70e836

December 20, 2022 Our process for building an MVP in 3 weeks

Once we had decided to build EarlyBird, my partner Mufeng, an experienced and talented full-stack developer, began working on the backend while I started on the website and some front-end development.

Since we don't have a designer, everything had to be hard-coded without a design system. We referred to Tailwind templates and tried to incorporate some nice UI components. Thanks to the mature ecosystem of TailwindCSS, we were able to complete the MVP development in three weeks.

The MVP was very basic - users could sign up to create a landing page by adding UI blocks, similar to Notion. When users finished composing, they could publish the landing page, making it publicly accessible.

November 30, 2022 Came up with the idea

I have been an entrepreneur for a long time and have learned from my own mistakes. And I want to use my experiences to help others avoid making the same mistakes.

Starting a business is exciting, but it can also be challenging.

I have seen too many similar failures, including my own, where I had an idea, bought a domain name, and even hired developers to create what I thought was the perfect product, then built something, only to find out after it that there was no demand for it. I have wasted a lot of time, effort, and money.

These life experiences led me to build EarlyBird.
