July 23, 2026 I built a fasting app with no account, no ads, and a real free tier — because the popular ones are billing traps

I'm an iOS dev, and I kept noticing the same thing about fasting apps: 4.8 stars on the App Store, 1.8 on Trustpilot. The gap is always billing — charged after cancelling, cancel-only-by-email, refunds refused, your data locked behind an account.

So I built the opposite and shipped it to the App Store.

- No account. Data lives on your device + your private iCloud. I can't see it.
- Billing is StoreKit-only. Apple handles cancellation and refunds — two taps in Settings. I literally can't do the shady stuff even if I wanted to.
- The timer is free forever. All 5 schedules free. Phase science free, and it cites its sources instead of promising "autophagy at exactly hour 12."
- A lifetime option, for people tired of renting apps.

Last week I shipped an Apple Watch app and a forgiving editable timer (fix a missed start, skip a day without breaking your streak) — the #1 requested feature in the category.

It's live and free to try: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6764533304 Site: https://easyfasting.net

Building this in public. Would genuinely love feedback from this crowd, especially on the honest-pricing angle — is a real free tier + lifetime enough to stand out, or does trust need more than that?

I'm curious what convinced you transparent pricing is the real wedge in this category rather than better fasting features themselves.

From the conversations you've had with users, do people switch because they no longer trust existing apps' billing practices, or because they simply want a fasting app that stays out of the way?

I'm an iOS dev tired of fasting apps' billing traps: great App Store ratings, awful Trustpilot scores. EasyFasting is the opposite. No account, cancel in two taps, timer free forever.
