Econus
Sustainable living made easy
We noticed a huge number of drop-offs on our old site, theactiveconsumer.com.
Our parent company, The Active Consumer, is rooted in an economic philosophy that gives purpose to our mobile app, Econus. Initially, we were pushing everyone to learn about the theory with that information being their guiding decision to download the app.
We realized we needed to drill down our messaging to be much more concise and as such are now putting Econus as the focal point with The Active Consumer philosophy in the background.
We were awarded $3,000 for our content marketing by the Weber State Micro Fund!
Our founder has been pitching at a bunch of these events for experience and feedback and this was the first at which we took home the cash.
Should have the check in hand in about a month :)

125 users in one month, not bad. Along with those users came a laundry list of bug fixes.
Postponing any marketing pushes until we get these suckers fixed!
We also noticed quite a bit of confusion within the app, going to work on some of the UI/UX.

It's been quite the journey getting to this point.
- I left my job without a clue as to what I would do.
- I found my approach in an economics theory and turned it into a business idea.
- I found investment. I lost investment (thanks covid).
- I found investment again.
- I found a dev team.
- And now here we are, nearly two years after leaving my job!
I signed up 50 customers over the weekend (~20 paying).
I feel like I just finished a marathon, but in actuality, I just arrived at the starting line.
Here we go!

Econus just made its first money! $2.48 cents to be exact.
Following some great advice from fellow IH'ers I went and withdrew this $2 and plan on framing it :)
Hopefully, this is the first of many dollars to come. Thanks for all of your support!!!!
After a grueling 1 year and 10 months, we finally have something to put out into the world!
Delays galore. They say it's "software development", to me if feels like I'm being strung along...hmm
Anywho, beta is out. Going to test it for 3 weeks than launch, which will put our official launch date somewhere around June 4th.
Here's the link to the beta you'd like to check it out: https://testflight.apple.com/join/sY1AJrwy

We should have the beta for the app ready today!!!
I went on KRCL 90.9 FM last Thursday to announce the announcement of our beta test, which will be followed by the launch of the app on (hopefully) May 13th!
The radio interview went super well. Here it is if you'd like to check it out - https://soundcloud.com/user-45260846/april-22-2021#t=12:20
My mission now is start building hype for the beta and upcoming release!

I personally wrote all the content and built the site. It was brutal.
It took me a while to get it up because I was worried about what people would think. But then I listened to a podcast and he talked about "ugly baby syndrome". Don't be afraid that people will think your baby is ugly...it may just be a late bloomer ;)

Well that was brutal. Probably the worst time of all to try and find funding for a tech project.
On March 17th, Covid struck. On March 12th I had enough funding to get my app rolling.
Needless to say, the funding was pulled and I was left literally at home with nothing more than a dream. The next few months were spent slogging through the muck trying to find funding. Hard times.

Two months after figuring out how I could use the theory of externalities to create and app that could "change" the world, I had a basic prototype created.
Now for the hard part. Finding people as passionate about the cause as I. Someone willing to put some cash down to fund the venture.
