Real-time SEC insider trade API for developers

June 16, 2026 Launched today

edgarkit.com is live. A real-time JSON API + webhooks for SEC Form 3/4/5 insider trading filings.

Built it in 2 weeks of evenings with AI as my pair-programmer because I'm a trader, not a career developer, and the existing options were either $500+/mo enterprise tier or scrape-and-pray.

What's in it:

- Polls SEC every 30 seconds

- 2 years of historical filings (~282k indexed)

- Webhooks with filters (ticker, transaction code, dollar amount)

- Free tier (1k calls/mo), $19/mo, $79/mo

Curious to connect with other indie hackers building developer tools for niche audiences.

Honestly, what stood out to me wasn't the polling speed or the webhook filters.

It's that a trader built this because the existing options felt either overpriced or unreliable.

What I'd be curious about is whether customers end up buying it for the same reason you built it.

I've seen those drift apart more often than founders expect, especially in niche developer tools.

About

I'm a trader and kept wanting cleaner access to SEC insider trading data. The SEC publishes Forms 3, 4, and 5 publicly, but the format is brutal — XML with footnote-only date fields, atom feeds that lie about CIK format,
