April 15, 2026 How a Slow College Internet Connection Led to the Idea Behind Edita.tools

The idea for Edita.tools didn’t start in a lab or a startup meeting. It started on a normal college day.

Our class had just finished a dance performance, and I had recorded the entire thing on my phone. Naturally, everyone wanted the video. The easiest way to share it seemed to be WhatsApp. But when I tried sending it, the familiar problem appeared the video size limit. The file was simply too large.

So I did what most people would do. I opened Google and searched for ways to compress the video. Within seconds, I found several online compression tools and tried using them. But there was another problem.

Almost every website required me to upload the entire video to their server first before compressing it.

Normally that might be fine, but that day the college network was heavily crowded. Upload speeds were painfully slow. The video barely moved past a few percent before failing or timing out. I tried multiple sites, refreshed pages, and attempted again, but nothing really worked. The process felt unnecessarily frustrating for something that should have been simple.

That moment made me realize something interesting.

Most file tools on the internet follow the same model: upload → process on server → download again.

But modern browsers are already powerful enough to process many types of files directly on the device itself. If the processing could happen inside the browser, there would be no need to upload the file at all.

That idea stuck with me.

Many people don’t want to install dedicated apps just for occasional file tasks, especially when device storage is limited. At the same time, uploading files to servers can be slow, inconvenient, and sometimes raises privacy concerns. A browser-based solution that processes files locally could solve both problems.

That thinking eventually led to the creation of Edita.tools.

Edita.tools is built around a simple concept: everyday file tools that run directly in your browser. Instead of uploading files to external servers, the processing happens locally on your device. This approach can make many tasks faster while also keeping user data private.

The vision is to build a lightweight collection of useful utilities things like file conversion, compression, and quick editing without unnecessary complexity. Just open the site, use the tool, and get the result instantly.

This project is still evolving, and more tools will continue to be added over time. But the core idea remains the same as that moment on campus: making simple file tasks faster, easier, and more private for everyone
