Edutrial
Application for students looking for majors and universities
Hi Indie Hackers 👋
After months of testing with high school students and educators, we just launched Edutrial – a gamified career trial platform that helps young people make better decisions before committing to a major or career path.
🎯 The Problem
Many students (especially in Asia, where we're based) choose college majors blindly – influenced by family, grades, or random trends. They don’t really know what it's like to be a data analyst, a graphic designer, or a nurse — until it's too late.
This leads to years of regret, costly career pivots, or even dropout.
💡 Our Solution: Edutrial
We built Edutrial as a "try-before-you-choose" platform.
Students can:
Experience real-world tasks from different careers (e.g., marketing, programming, UX, etc.)
Reflect on what they enjoyed or struggled with
Receive personalized recommendations based on their performance and preferences
It’s like a career sandbox, in your browser.
🛠️ Built With:
No-code + low-code + custom backend
Real content co-created with young professionals and mentors
Gamified design to keep students engaged
🚀 Why We Built It
We’re a team of educators and young founders from Vietnam 🇻🇳 who saw too many talented friends burn out because of the “wrong-fit” career path.
Edutrial is our answer to make career discovery more playful, practical, and personal.
🙌 What We’re Looking For:
Feedback from you! (UX, onboarding, clarity)
Partners in EdTech or career coaching
Support when we launch on Product Hunt next week 😉
👉 Try it here: http://edutrial.io.vn/
Let me know what you think – we’re all ears.
Thanks for reading, and wishing you clarity on your own journey too!

Editorial team
Hey Indie Hackers!
I recently launched Edutrial – a platform that lets high school students experience different university majors before they commit to one.
❓The Problem:
Too many students (especially in Vietnam, where I’m based) pick a major based on:
Parental pressure
Prestige or income potential
No real understanding of the subject
This leads to regret, wasted tuition, and years spent studying something they don’t love.
🎯 The Solution:
Edutrial lets students:
Take trial lessons in different majors (business, law, engineering, etc.)
Get AI-powered recommendations based on interests/personality
Read real student stories from people in those fields
Think: a “career test” meets mini-courses + reality check.
🌱 Traction:
MVP launched with first users
Partnerships forming with schools and student ambassadors
Focused on Vietnam now, but the problem is global
💬 Would love your feedback:
Does this problem resonate in your country?
If you were 17 again, would this help?
How can I make the trial experience more fun / sticky / shareable?
You can check out a demo or just drop any thoughts. Brutal honesty welcome.
Thanks! 🙏

This is such a brilliant idea love the concept of "try-before-you-choose" for careers! Edutrial feels like a game-changer for students who feel lost or pressured when picking majors. The gamified, hands-on approach makes career exploration practical and personal. Excited to see where this goes best of luck on your Product Hunt launch.

If I had something like Edutrial back in high school, I would’ve saved so much time and doubt. This is going to change lives

This hits home 💥 As someone who watched so many friends regret their majors, I wish Edutrial existed sooner

The link you've shared in the first line of the text doesn't work. Then I tried the "Website" button on your profile, and it does work, but I'm unable to read Vietnamese. You should use English as your first language, IMHO.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! 🙏
We're continually working to improve the product, and your input is greatly appreciated. You can try out the website and leave us more feedback on the new post.
Since our main target audience is high school students in Vietnam, the site is currently in Vietnamese. But we really appreciate your perspective, and we’ll consider adding English support in the future!

Really love the concept. I wish something like Edutrial existed back when I was choosing my major—it would’ve saved a lot of doubt. The site’s clean, easy to explore, and the experiences feel fresh.
Would be great to see more majors and maybe a bit more depth, but for a first version? Super solid. Looking forward to what’s next!
This is such a valuable initiative. Giving high school students a chance to explore real university majors through interactive experiences like trial lessons and simulations is exactly what’s needed to make informed decisions about their future.
You’ve got a strong concept and user‑centered approach—well done! To take it further, focus on making all functional touchpoints work, tightening the UX flow, and adding credibility via testimonials/data. Over time, consider light English support while keeping Vietnamese as the core language.
