Ellacard

After aggressively advertising our product, we reached a milestone of having 500,000 people you used our platform and products. It was a proud accomplishment given we really started pushing our platform only 5 months earlier. We did realize that in order to sustain momentum, we would need to find new avenues of growth.

To get the word out we started placing a few advertisements on Google. After a couple of days with no conversions, we finally got our first customer, someone from Hawaii, who ordered a farewell card for a coworker. Quickly I learned that it would take a lot of time and effort outside of engineering to sell our product.

After months of working on our video platform, we finally released our MVP. It allows multiple people to collaborate to create a professional quality video without having to do any actual video editing. We worked really hard to get the platform right, and learned just how long it could take to get a complicated product like this working

After a few months of heads down working on a group card product and website, we finally had basic functionality with several card designs to choose from. With our new MVP, multiple people could add text, photos, GIFs, and emoji to as many pages as they needed.

After we nixed our first business idea due to the pandemic, we spent a few months searching for a new idea that we could pursue during the pandemic. My partner and I finally came upon our idea that was to become Ellacard, and on June 16, 2020, we were officially incorporated.
