Friends, family, and I have been using Elsewhere for a few months now. Even though planning trips is not as much fun as it once was, I have gotten feedback and made some changes to Elsewhere. There were bugs that popped up along the way which is not much of a surprise. I will continue to tweak and improve Elsewhere, but for the time being I think it is in a decent place. I kept track of what I have done to Elsewhere along the way, and published a blog post about it today. Here is the link in case anyone would like to read along https://thomasstep.dev/blog/elsewhere-diary

August 25, 2020 First User

Today I noticed that I had my first signup from someone that I do not personally know. I do not have a monetization scheme in place, so this does not mean that anyone has purchased my product. It does mean that the links I have put out have been noticed. I would prefer to have more organic growth, but in order to get the ball rolling, I will continue to promote Elsewhere through posting links where I think the product could be useful.

August 13, 2020 Finished MVP

Elsewhere has made it to a stage where anyone can start to use it. I have added accounts, maps, map markers, and collaboration. There are still features that I want to add in, but the core functionality is there that I can continue to build on. I am not assuming that there will be a huge acceptance from the start, but even a single user would hopefully be able to give me the feedback that I want.

March 2020 The Idea of Elsewhere Is Born

My girlfriend and I were planning our next trip. Like the other trips we had planned in the past, we were using a combination of Google maps, notes, spreadsheets, and blog posts. I thought that there had to be a better way of planning a trip then huddling around a single laptop with numerous tabs open.

Elsewhere helps users create a map for a trip, create their list of places, and invite friends to contribute.

About

I could not find any way to keep track of where you wanted to go while on a trip with anyone else. Elsewhere is meant to be a place to store that list of places.
