Classify emails from people you don't know
Emailgurus cages emails from unknown senders and puts them in a separate label folder. Today we passed 100K emails processed where 60% were filtered i.e were sent from outsiders.
This is 60K emails sent to merely 100 users from people they don't know!
So proud of the value we're bringing.
Remember, It's opensource, so your data is yours.
Emailgurus is a Gmail plugin that flags emails from unknown senders.
It listens to your inbox changes after it's granted a few sensitive access requests.
The main concern I've been hearing from my potential users who reach out on Twitter and Linkedin is: How do we ensure you don't read the content of our emails?
While my answer about encrypting their accesses with rotational keys or hashing their contact lists; so they only own their data; gets some nodding, nothing built the trust and immediately converted better than telling them that the software is open source, getting anyone to read the code if you can't and let them tell you how your data is processed.
Open-sourcing Emailgurus has been a blessing. I'm thankful.
Fun fact, 2 Billionaires are using Emailgurus 🙈

Last week, I was having a dinner with a friend who used to be a co-worker and moved to the VC world.
I was telling him about the startup I'm co-founding which is in mental health and I brought up the indie I'm building: Emailgurus.xyz
I saw the guy's eyes lighting as he told me that the problem my indie is solving is exactly what they've been discussing in their all hands meeting. They've been flooded by emails from people they don't know: Pitchers, lawyers, sales people etc.., and many internal emails that require immediate attention were lost in the tabs.
After a simple demo of the dashboard and the options and stating that the solution is open-source to make him comfortable about their data privacy, he immediately called the partner and sent him the link.
Yesterday, I signed my first B2B deal as a solopreneur. $2K for 40 employees licenses / year.
Dubai is a big city but communities are niche. I hope this will get more B2B sales in a standardized form although I never thought B2B would be my Go-to-market strategy.
I just got my 50th customer today and with this, I'm almost at $400 MRR.
I never have imagined to achieve this even in my wildest dreams.
I'm glad Emailgurus.xyz is delivering the value I wanted it to deliver.
It all started from Product hunt, to Linkedin and talking directly to customers.

That's really good traction, congrats. Honestly I don't even really understand what your software does, so maybe tweak the landing page a bit for folks like me? Why do I need it? What advantage does it have over Gmail or Zoho? That would be my main questions. Continued good luck!

Thanks a lot for passing by!
My software is just a service that plugs into your Gmail.
It labels emails from unknown senders and allows you to auto-archive them.
This filter is not being offered by Gmail so yeah.. that's the problem I'm solving

About
I was trying to figure out a way to classify emails from people outside my contact list, but Gmail did not offer any solution. Emailgurus is here to solve precisely that.

What happens after they are caged? Do your customers want all the messages from unknown senders deleted? Do you unsubscribe (or try to) on behalf of customers.
(Sorry, I'm sure you answer this on your website. But I'm being lazy.)
We do offer an option to delete the emails automatically but it's disabled by default and marked in red in your settings. (Only if you know what you're doing)
By default, we add a label to the email and archive it. You can find all caged emails in a labeled folder on Gmail called EG:OUTSIDERS.
You can also choose just to label them and they stay on the inbox.
