"Teach me to do what you do."
These were the words that got me started on building embark, said by a designer I previously worked alongside. These words took me by a little by surprise as this particular designer was quite ambitious and already capable of producing exceptional work! What became clear to me in time, was that they lacked clarity in direction and structure to their learning. This occurred around the same time I was collecting problems and knew immediately that this was what I knew, and wanted to work on.
Fast forward a little and I found myself back in a leadership position. As a leader and manager of design teams, part of my job is to help people realise their ambitions, motivate them, and develop them. In turn, the organisation grows stronger.
I personally enjoy teaching and helping people grow, and I have many ideas for the future, I've got to start somewhere, so let's take this one step at a time. After testing the approach using Google Docs for some time and learning about what works and what required some refinement along the way, I'm proud to present Embark.
