Embernacle
Read. Discuss. Quiz.
For most of my life I’d open the Bible, read a few verses, and zone out. It felt passive; like reading a wall of text with the volume turned down.
But I’d lose hours in a comic book. The pacing, the visual rhythm, the way you’re forced to sit with each panel.
So I built Embernacle (embernacle.com) to bring that energy to Bible study. Here’s how it works:
📜 Scroll-to-reveal reading — verses appear one at a time as you scroll, like a feed. It forces you to slow down instead of skimming.
🧠 Socratic Mode — instead of telling you what the text means, it asks you guided questions to help you dig into the “why” yourself.
🗺️ Thematic Mapping — track recurring symbols, theological themes, and character arcs across books.
🎯 Quiz engine + Character Journeys — for retention. Walk through biblical decisions and explore their consequences.
The core Bible data and theological JSON are also public and free. I believe these tools should be accessible to everyone, not paywalled.
I built this for people like me who love digging deep but struggle with the passive reading format. If that resonates, I’d love your feedback.
