May 25, 2019 Split website in two: www. and portal.

After many long discussions about how to structure our website, we decided to divide our website into two: www. and portal. This will allow us to untangle the marketing and product teams.

There are many things that marketing needs to be able to tweak. Copy, photos, widgets, placements, ... the list is never-ending. To untie the hands of our marketing folks and give them all the flexibility in the world, we have decided to move our "marketing" home to WebFlow. With a litle additional learning required, they will be able to completely take the reigns of the look and feel of the site. Other benefits include: allowing the product team to fully focus on the product.

Which domain are you using for which? It generally seems like a great idea to reserve www for your marketing site (for SEO purposes) and then let your actual app sit on another subdomain. I've seen a lot of online tools using www for marketing and app for their service (presumably because it's a little shorter?) Contentful does this, for example.

What does your product do? The only downside I can see is if the actual product has SEO ranking content (like in the case of LinkedIn or Airbnb).

Good luck moving forward! Splitting up marketing and product seems like a great move.

Hi Matt! Thanks for your reply. Just as you said, we are using www for marketing purposes and portal for the app. We didn't want to use the app subdomain because it's so overused. We have no content on the portal that needs to be indexed by search engines to that simplifies things. All of our blog content is under www.emperorinvests.com/learn.

Our product allows clients to invest in pure-stock portfolios constructed by our engine from scratch. So we pick stocks in the US market and tailor the overall portfolio risk to that of the client.

      Thanks again!

May 17, 2019 Reduce the minimum required to become a client

We have decided to reduce the minimum investment required to become a client of Emperor Investments from $2,000 to $500. The process to do this gave our compliance team a headache but will allow us to lower the barrier of entry to use our service.

March 28, 2019 200 Paying Customers

It's been a long slog to get here, but Emperor Investments just passed 200 clients! This has been the result of several efforts, including blogging, social media marketing, press, and podcast appearances. But still, long road ahead 🤞

Congrats :) What SEO techniques did you use? Did you use content marketing, blogs etc...

    1. 1

We did all of the above: Affiliate marketing, ads (Facebook/Instagram, Google), remarketing, blogs, podcasts. What really worked for us was being featured guests on other influencers' podcats and talking about our product.

Wow, that's good. At the beginning stage, which marketing technique did you use?

        1. 1

          We started with affiliate marketing.

Congrats to you! Is there one specific learning in terms of promotion, like one thing that you've done that was really successful, that you were not aware of when you began promoting your business?

We are new to this space so everything was a learning opportunity! However, what we've been successful in is experimenting with different strategies quickly. It doesn't matter if an idea fails – as long as you dump it quickly. We've been iterating in one week "experiments" and seeing how the analytics performed.

Very interested. I see. Interacting until you find a channel producing better results than the others. Thanks!
