IELTS preparation website

February 1, 2021 Got my first customer

I made a few videos to put on YouTube to promote my website. One student saw the video and got in touch. As it was my first customer, I gave her a coupon code which gave her all of the courses for next to nothing. She was very appreciative and has gone on to really help my site. She is constantly sharing my videos, raving about my courses to other students and has even become the moderator of my Facebook group.

One thing that should have been very obvious was that I should have been building an audience long ago. To be honest, I always knew this, but was having too much fun creating the site to be thinking rationally.

Lesson learned: audience- credibility- product

2020 Started working on creating my site

I had never built a site but friends mentioned WordPress, so I looked into it and came across some useful plugins: LearnDash, BuddyBoss, Elementor. I didn't do much market research but had been teaching exam preparation classes in China and had a few ideas on how I could help students to pass the IELTS exam.

About

I was excited to attempt my first online business. Having taught exam preparation classes for so many years I figured it would be a good first small business to start.
