Eredom
Domain names for your next startup!
After approximately four months of uptime, Eredom got a couple of paid users, a lot of praise from founders who have founded a good name for their new startup, and an uneasy feeling that what I got so far is not enough.
Paid customers are great, as well as positive feedback, but what Eredom needs now is more paid users in order to even sustain itself. In the meantime, I have added two (dictionary) word domains. They have a lot of impacts, judging by the users' feedback.
I mean, the cost of running is not that high, so I will keep it up and running for the time being. It is just that I am focusing more on my other projects.
Until next time, stay hydrated!
David
I know, I know, I am as surprised as you are, but it has actually happened!
It is a one-time payment, but despite that, it points to the important question: someone will pay for the site. After I have contacted and thanked the user, he said that he likes the site and thinks it was worth it.
It left me speechless :)
He said he found the site through Reddit, so I think focusing on that platform can really pay off. I haven’t still done a full Reddit marketing campaign, but it is now definitely on the priority list.
Thank you, internet stranger, for you have kept one project alive!
For the time being, at least.
But it is something.

I have added 7 letter domain names (they seem more readable than others. For example, dumpily, breador, nettoff, italiot, and so on).
And that has attracted more visits, which is cool :)
I have also added a list of available NFT domains. Not surprisingly, since it is a very hot theme these days, more people are looking at NFT domains than the standard .com ones :)
Also, added the Pricing page. That will serve as a litmus test: if no one is willing to pay, that means no one actually needs this that bad. And that will lead to the project's shutdown, due to the "No sales == Startup death" rule (which is true in most cases).
We will see.

Hi David. This is an interesting project and definitely valuable to people, however I think you should change the "Price est" to something like "Est Value". When I first looked I thought you were charging that price for the domain.
One other suggestion would be to adjust your URL so that each domain gets a unique URL. Not 100% sure that will benefit, but it might if someone happens to type in the name

Hi, thanks for the feedback!
I was thinking about adding a domain name in the URL for some time now. Will do that in the next release. Also, I'll change the label to something less confusing.
Thanks again :)

After some algorithm adjusting, I have added other short .com domains, namely 4 characters (letters and numbers) and 6 letter .com domains.
In the meantime, the SEO/marketing efforts are failing to bear much/any fruit. There are around 20 site visits daily, with some growth tendency.
On the bright side, I go a couple of really good reviews, like:
Honey, that is really great-looking site.
My mum
Indeed, this is some good stuff.
Myself
Anyway, this will probably go into the silent, side-projectesque mode, where I will keep the site up and running for at least a couple of months. I plan on spending a few hours weekly on it, adjusting domains, and probably adding new posts, but not much more (80% sure of this).
The monthly expanse of keeping the site up and adding new domains is around 20$, so that is ok. I used to spend more on Capri suns, and where did it get me? Exactly.
Until the next time,
Stay hydrated

The site is launched, and the process of acquiring feedback and users began. Here is a short summary of what happened next:
I have started with this list: https://www.notion.so/logology/Where-to-post-your-project-bc6ce54240884770b2467c3b0f7c1624
and submitted Eredom on exactly 15 of them. As of the 28th of February, only a couple of sites accepted it, I guess more time is needed.
Since I was keeping a TODO list, I went through it after release and start adding features marked for after release. I am a programmer, and as such, I love to work on technical stuff. Or, to put it simply, I like to work on things that I know, and where I can see results right away. As of the 28th of February, I realized I was mostly wrong. I don't need new features, I need to know if someone needs or wants to use this. Not Add to favorites button. Although, I would like to work on that. But I shouldn't.
I started to learn more about marketing and realized that I don't know a thing about (digital) marketing. Or I don't know a thing about how to market a newly created site. I have a lot to learn. A lot.
So, I started learning. And boy did I learn. What I have learned you might ask? Well, so far, hardly anything. Started with Ahrefs, Semrush, SEO PowerSuite, and some others. Got lost in the Dashboards. Managed to run a Site audit, and found out that there are a bunch of .in sites pointing to my site. When did that happen? How? I don't know. Nor do I know how to perform keyword research, or how to optimize tags for social networks. I have a lot to learn.
So, the SEO battle stands in front of me, and I am armed with starting-to-turn-black banana, while in front of me stands two hundred meters high five hundred pounds heavy gorilla, made of stainless steel and my ignorance. I mean, I might be called David, but that David had a sling, and his Goliath wasn't prone to put him on the 96.2 position on the Google search. And that is a 2000-year-old story. This is going to be tough...
In the meantime, I did get some feedback, mostly from Reddit users. Both of them were very kind, and they said that they love the product. Woo hoo :) Also, I removed a bunch of features, so it is cleaner now. I mean, pricing, who needs that? And to think I spent days trying to integrate PayPal into the system. In the end, I have learned not to integrate anything, especially not a payment system, without knowing that there is anyone willing to pay. And that is good.
Started writing blog posts and adding them to the site, in hope that it will increase content in a highly non-content site. We shall see.
To summarize, the battle rages on. I will try to update here all future misbehaves and failures, in order to avoid them in the future. Maybe also some success story as well, who knows.
But mostly failures.
Stay tuned! And stay hydrated!

Once, I spent a week trying to get a name for my new project. I hardly did anything else during that period. Eredom has a list of available and brandab .com domains, so hopefully, name choosing will be faster for others.
