Ethyr

This milestone was a very bitter-sweet and heartbreaking moment in my life.

On January 30th, my father passed away. We knew this was unfortunately coming, but I am thankful I was able to spend a lot of time with him in the previous months.

The week before he passed, we had a conversation and he had me promise him that no matter what happened in the following week, I would launch Ethyr on time. My launch date had already been set for January 31st.

Needless to say, I kept my promise and launched on time.

Talk about a roller coaster of a journey... phew!

After 9 months of developing on nights and weekends, I officially beta launched ethyr.io

The first week of the beta launch was not the best. However, I asked a few friends to take a look at my landing page. Their advice was brilliant and it definitely helps to get fresh eyes on your project.

The beta successfully gathered 300+ student emails and 100+ instructors signed up. The key part was that the instructors added 35 courses prior to launch and I've built some great relationships with them along the way.

I began following a tutorial by Classed on YouTube to learn how to use Firebase, react.js, express.js, and node.js. Thank you sooooo much Classed!!!

I absolutely fell in love with node.js and began to build Ethyr's API that was integrated into Google's Firebase & Firestore.

It has definitely been a lot of work to learn all of this, but I'm very proud of the progress I have made in a year.
