Eurotripr
Plan trips to Europe and share your trip itineraries.
In my 6th month and still nothing finished or useful live. I need to step back and pare down my desired features. I need to focus on how to inspire wannabe Eurotrippers and how to 'quickly' monetize as my runway is shrinking daily. Giving myself the rest of October to get a useful MVP live and get some traffic. Otherwise I will need to pivot to something new or find another 9-5 to replenish my runway 😳.
I am pivoting to a more useful and inspiring MVP to help people travel to Europe. I originally copied and pushed a watered-down, incomplete copy of NomadList. I need to be more unique and find a way to inspire wannabe Eurotrippers to plan and travel to Europe.

Launched a scaled down version of Eurotripr that is a single page ranking all the countries in Europe as best places to visit. Criteria include: Average daily cost, Weather, Fun, Safety, Crowd density, COVID restrictions, COVID cases. I curated this data from various government and stat sites and created custom calculations to provide objective overall scores to each country weighting different scores as more/less critical to whether a traveler would want to visit.

Instead of focusing primarily on allowing users to plan their trips to Europe (which remains a longer-term goal), for my MVP, I am going to focus on curating useful information about European travel destinations: itineraries, cost of travel, other traveler stories, travel tips, best resources for travelers. I want this to be a one-stop destination for all things European travel. Once / if it gains an audience and traction, I can focus on what other features to add later, rather than putting too much time into these features now and never getting a useful project out the door. In the end, my goal for Eurotripr is to help more people travel to Europe affordably, safely, and with confidence.

I've started once again from the beginning to try to get a usable MVP to Live. To stay accountable I have begun to Live Stream my progress on Twitch, post status updates on Twitter and IH. It's awkward and a bit scary, but am excited to put my progress out there in hopes of getting feedback while I build instead of long after I have burned out or given up.

I have worked on and scrapped this project so many time over the years without showing progress to anyone for fear and embarrassment. I just threw it out there, as crappy as it is, to get some feedback and see if it is at all possibly useful to others
About
I travelled to Europe for 3 months in 1999 during college, and have always dreamed of building some sort of business around European travel. I love helping others plan trips to Europe and daydreaming about my own trips.
