Went to a pitching event last night in Bristol. Some amazingly brilliant ideas - seriously where do all these ideas come from? I love how creative we can be, and the enthusiasm, love it. But oh the slides. NO you are not worth $500M and No you will not conquer the world. But you have a good idea yes. but keep it realistic. Focus on what you can do right away, the quick wins and show how you can scale with that little

November 14, 2018 Pitching Bitching

So this pitching lark - honestly it is a drag. But you gotta do it, again and again and.....And all those people looking at you and they are thinking, I 'm a millionaire and really I am just here for the fun of it and have no intention of investing. Or so you think. And then you do your 5000th pitch (it seems) and then suddenly kaboom someone comes up, and is polite and decent and says "actually you have a brilliant idea. Let's talk!". And after a few coffees and due dil and all that stuff suddenly they are writing a cheque. And the pain is gone, forgotten, a bit like childbirth (I assume), and then...you start all over again

Wow so you have an idea and think it is great and so do some other people and they put money into your idea and the more money they put in the more things you have to do. So now I have to find a full time developer, and a social media marketer, and an intern, and go up to London to pitch, and then fix my damn website (I don't code) oh yes I need to find that developer, a listen to podcasts and wow what was my idea again...oh yes...manic but fun,
