Execution Over Idea, A Myth?

Hello again IndieHackers,

It's Jorge from EXO IDEA. Today, I want to delve deeper into a topic that's close to my heart and seems to ruffle a few entrepreneurial feathers: the age-old debate of idea versus execution.

We often hear that "execution is king" and that ideas, by themselves, are merely a dime a dozen. This mantra is derived from observing existing startups, where, indeed, many falter due to poor execution despite a promising concept.

But here's the catch: this perspective is heavily skewed.

By focusing on startups that have already jumped off the starting line, we're overlooking a vast number of potential ventures that never even began the race. Why? Simply because they lacked a compelling, actionable idea.

The Unseen Data
The startups and businesses we see around us represent a mere fraction of the entrepreneurial spirit. For every startup that launches, how many potential entrepreneurs are out there still waiting for their 'aha!' moment? While it's true that many startups fail due to poor execution, it's equally valid that countless startups never materialize because the foundational idea isn't there.

Ideas Aren’t Cheap
Let's address the "ideas are dime a dozen" notion. Sure, many people have ideas, but how many are actionable, unique, or capable of disrupting markets? Not so many, right? An idea's true value isn't just in its novelty, but its potential for impact. Ideas are the seeds. Execution might be the water and sunlight, but without a seed, what are we nurturing?

Finding the Middle Ground with EXO IDEA
On https://exoidea.com the importance of a solid idea becomes even more apparent. Every day, I witness the birth of collaborations stemming from a shared belief in a unique concept. It's a testament that while execution is paramount, the underlying idea should never be undervalued.

In Closing
Let's change the narrative. Instead of viewing ideas and execution as opposing forces in a zero-sum game, let's treat them as the two essential pillars of entrepreneurship. One provides direction, while the other offers momentum.

Looking forward to hearing your insights on this debate. And if you're ever in search of that initial spark or the right partner to bring it to life, remember that EXO IDEA is here to facilitate that union.

Keep dreaming and doing,

P.S. Behind every great execution lies a spark, an idea that ignited the journey. Let's respect and nurture that. 🚀

Every idea has it's own kind of value. Many people could have the same or similar ideas. In the real world the idea "value" is connected with money most of the time.
The real treasure is what you make with it (the idea), in the real world, outside your head.
...and it could be a mix of inputs, execution, outputs ... a secret sauce ... a mojo ... or whatever you want to call it :)
