ExpenseSplit
Split Expenses Fairly. No Confusion. No Stress.
So, I’ve been working on a small and practical web tool called ExpenseSplit — and I built this because I was tired of arguing over ₹1,200 dinner bills with friends.
I built this free expense split calculator because I was tired of small money arguments turning into awkward moments.
On a recent trip with friends, one person paid for the Airbnb, another covered dinners, someone paid for fuel — and by the end, nobody knew who owed what. We tried calculating manually, and that somehow made things worse.
Most apps I found required login, downloads, or long-term tracking. Sometimes you just want to split once and move on.
So I built a simple browser-based tool that does exactly that.
What it actually does
ExpenseSplit is a free online expense split calculator that works instantly in your browser.
No signup.
No login.
No data stored.
No tracking of your transactions.
Just enter the numbers and split.
I’ve put it live here if anyone’s curious: https://expensessplit.com
Current Features
The tool supports:
• Trip expense splitting
• Roommate rent & utility splitting
• Friends group expense calculation
• Equal and custom splits
• Clear breakdown of who owes whom
It’s designed for:
Group travel
Flatmates
Couples
Event organizers
College students
Anyone managing shared expenses
Everything runs client-side. Nothing is saved.
It’s built to remove friction — not add another account to manage.
It’s still early — traffic is small — and I just applied for AdSense. Now I’m focused on organic growth.

Why Build This When Splitwise Exists?
Tools like Splitwise and similar apps are powerful.
But they’re built for long-term tracking.
ExpenseSplit is different:
It’s for quick, one-time calculations.
Think:
Restaurant bill split
Weekend trip settlement
Airbnb + groceries split
Festival or party planning
Open → Calculate → Done.
Current Status
Live and publicly accessible
Fully free
Monetized only via ads (applied for AdSense recently)
No paid plans planned for now
My long-term vision is to make this the most easy-to-use expense split calculator on the web.
I plan to:
Improve UX
Add smarter uneven split logic
Add query-based SEO pages (e.g., “how to split rent fairly”)
Enhance group/trip/roommate calculators
Build sustainable organic traffic
I’d Love Your Feedback On
Does the positioning make sense?
Should I keep it pure calculator-only or expand into lightweight tracking?
What would make you switch from apps to a web-based tool like this?
If you’ve built a tool product before, I’d especially love your advice on growing traffic without becoming dependent on a single platform.
Appreciate this community — building in public is less lonely because of spaces like this.
About
ExpenseSplit exists because splitting money shouldn’t be awkward, complicated, or app-dependent. I kept noticing the same problem in real life — friends arguing over restaurant bills, roommates confused about rent split
