ExpiryPing
SSL certificates expire silently. ExpiryPing alerts
I'm a software developer based in Canada, working full-time with school-age kids. I had 20-30 minutes per day to build something.
Three weeks ago, I started ExpiryPing — SSL certificate expiry monitoring that sends email alerts at 30, 14, 7, and 1 day before certificates expire.
The constraints I set:
20-30 minutes per day, weekdays only
No cold outreach (I'm introverted)
No social media presence
Passive acquisition only
What I built:
6 free developer tools (SSL checker, JWT decoder, PEM decoder, TLS checker, Cron validator, JSON formatter) as SEO acquisition
Each tool links to the paid monitoring product
Daily cron job checks all monitored domains
Email alerts via Resend
Stripe billing ($19 Starter, $39 Pro)
The funnel: Google → free tool → result → "monitor this automatically" → dashboard → subscription
Current status:
Live at expiryping.dev
Accepting real payments
Open for business, looking for first customers
What's next:
Watch Search Console for organic traffic
Weekly summary emails (just shipped)
Domain expiry monitoring
Happy to answer questions about the tech stack or the build process.
