August 6, 2026 3 years of Etsy sales failures taught me what I actually needed — so I built it

I sold on Etsy for 3 years. Sales were basically non-existent the whole time.

For a long time I thought the problem was my listings — photos, titles, tags. I rewrote them constantly. Nothing moved.

Eventually I realized I was optimizing blind. I had no idea what I was actually up against: how many other shops were competing for the same keywords, what they were pricing at, or whether the niche I'd picked was even winnable in the first place. I was guessing, then hoping.

So I built EXRAY — a tool that shows you that before you list anything.

You put in an Etsy shop or a keyword, and it pulls live data: full pricing distribution, competition density, and whether the niche is premium-heavy, a race to the bottom, or a tight cluster where everyone prices about the same. Then it gives you an actual next step, not just a dashboard of numbers to interpret yourself.

I posted about the original struggle on Reddit a while back, and a bunch of other sellers replied with the exact features they wished existed — keyword difficulty scoring, pricing strategy breakdowns. Most of what EXRAY does now came directly from that thread.

It's a side project, built solo, still early — free tier with 5 searches/day, no card needed if you just want to poke at it: exray.pro

Would genuinely appreciate feedback from anyone here who's dealt with the same "flying blind" problem in their own niche, Etsy or otherwise.

About

3 years on Etsy with no sales taught me the real problem was zero visibility into the competition. EXRAY shows pricing, competition, and niche winnability before you invest time in a listing that won't work.
