EZDrop ‑ Drops & FOMO Waitlist
Viral product drops with referral waitlist for Shopify
Honest update on EZDrop — viral product drops with referral waitlist for Shopify.
Current MRR: $98. That's real paying merchants, not trials.
The one that sticks in my head: VXRN installed it, upgraded to Growth ($19/mo) within minutes, tried to upgrade again to Pro ($49/mo), payment declined, uninstalled 10 minutes later with "not satisfied with features."
That's the most valuable uninstall I've ever had. Luxury streetwear brand doing limited drops — exactly my target customer — and they hit the ceiling of what the app offered before I even knew they were there.
I've been building the features they were probably looking for since then.
Product Hunt launch is June 16. Two days away.
If you've ever tried to run a product drop on Shopify and hit a wall — what broke first?
Supreme drops $100M in product in hours. Not because their products are $100M better. Because they made waiting feel like winning.
Limited availability. A countdown. The knowledge that other people want the same thing you want. That's the entire mechanic.
Small Shopify brands have been trying to replicate this for years. The ones that pull it off do it manually — a Google Form for the waitlist, a spreadsheet for the queue, copy-pasted emails for the winners. It works once. It doesn't scale.
So I built EZDrop.
Why it exists
The drop model creates demand. The referral mechanic makes that demand viral. No tool existed that combined both for Shopify merchants without a $200/month enterprise contract.
What it does
Merchants create a drop: limited slots, countdown timer, product linked from Shopify.
Customers join the waitlist and get a personal referral link. Every friend they refer moves them up the queue. The scoring formula rewards both joining early and referring more — so the most motivated customers rise to the top.
When the drop launches, the top-N winners get an email with access. Everyone else stays on the list for the next one.
The full lifecycle — waitlist signup, referral scoring, position ranking, launch email delivery — runs automatically.

The one that got away
VXRN — a luxury streetwear brand doing exactly the kind of drops EZDrop was built for — installed, activated the $19/month plan, tried to upgrade to Pro $49, payment declined, and uninstalled 10 minutes later. Left "not satisfied with features" as the reason.
That's the most useful data point I have. I need to know what features VXRN needed that weren't there. Every streetwear brand doing drops has the same needs. That one conversation could define the roadmap.
What's next
Product Hunt launch June 16. Direct outreach to the brands doing manual drops right now — the ones with a Google Form as their waitlist.
The goal before PH: understand exactly what VXRN needed. Build it if it's reasonable. Show up to the launch with a product that already solved the problem for one real customer.
If you've done a limited product drop — how did you manage the waitlist? What broke?

About
Referral waitlists turn limited drops into word-of-mouth. Most Shopify merchants manage drops manually — no waitlist, no referral scoring, no automated launch emails. EZDrop handles the full drop lifecycle.
