April 10, 2022 Got first paying customer after cold DM on Twitter

After reaching out to a lot of founders and makers for feedback with Famewall, landed a first paying customer after getting to know about their pain points in the DM

They were happy to subscribe to a monthly plan once they came to know of integrating reddit testimonials

Realized that there are a lot of things which might work when you're building a startup. Being optimistic definitely helps you move forward :)

Congratulations! They say a paying customer is what differentiates between a hobby and a real business. Most of us never cross that line, let alone in such a short time.

I'm going to start cold DM-ing myself and I need to know what to expect. What was your success rate? How many DMs did you have to send before getting an answer?

P.S. I'm validating a landing page analytics tool for early-stage founders, would you be willing to have a 10min chat with me? I'll be happy to give you unlimited lifetime access, of course.

Hey Artem. Thanks for the kind words.

So my success rate was mostly 20-30% as I target customers who are more likely to respond. There's an extra bit of nuance that I also try to engage with their content on Twitter.

Sure will be happy to help you :)

Great, thank you, just DM-ed you on Twitter

February 21, 2022 Getting the MVP ready by this week

It's been 2 weeks since I began building famewall.io which makes it easy to highlight social media mentions as beautiful testimonials

While most of the essential features for the MVP are ready, just a few more integrations left 😅

Should launch the beta by this week to get feedback from customers :)

February 2, 2022 After some hacking, validating a new product

Though it boosts sales, it's quite uncomfortable to prompt users to share testimonials having to travel back & forth.

But social media on the other hand has the most vocal customers who would turn your website visitors into believers.

With that idea in mind, I'm currently working on Famewall - which makes it fun to build custom wall of fame with social media mentions from customers

How would those testimonials be shown? Integrated within the website?

My main concern with adding stuff to my website is that I have to add third-party code, which leads to security/privacy concerns, especially with the GDPR rules nowadays.

Hey @XCS So the testimonials will either be shown on your website through an embed code or can be shown separately as a wall of fame.

Regarding the privacy & security concerns since this is publicly available information on social media, there are no issues on that front.

      1. 2

The privacy/security concerns do not come from the information displayed, but from the fact that the data is loaded and displayed from your site.

For example, recently a site in Germany was fined due to breaching GDPR because they had Google Fonts included, which sends the visitor's IP to Google.

If I include your script on my website, the visitor and traffic information from my site will be sent to your servers. How do you plan to handle this data?

        1. 1

Right got it. So the wall of fame would be an iframe embed which only fetches the testimonials and will not be a script.

We actually don't store any kind of information when the embed is invoked.

Also if that's an issue there will also be an option to display wall of fame separately on a webpage under a custom domain.
