FeedMute
The phone isn't the problem. The feed is.
Day 2 of building in public.
I tried everything. Deleted the app. Screen time limits. Blockers. Always came back within a week.
Then I realized, the problem was never the app. It was the feed.
So I'm building Feedmute. A local VPN layer that removes Reels, Shorts, and TikTok feeds entirely while keeping everything else fully functional. Instagram DMs still work. YouTube still works. The endless scroll just disappears. No willpower required.
Launched the waitlist yesterday at feedmute.com. Would love feedback from this community on the idea, the landing page, anything.
What's the one thing you'd want to know before signing up?
About
I almost failed my first year at TU Delft because of Reels. I tried everything, deleting the app, screen time limits, blockers. Nothing worked. I always came back. Then I realized the problem was never the app.

The thing I’d want before signing up is the enforcement boundary. If I’m keeping Instagram installed, I’m immediately wondering what happens with web Instagram, VPN toggles, app updates, links from friends, and DMs.
In this category the enemy is not lack of motivation, it is the obvious bypass path. I’d make the landing page answer “what still works, what gets blocked, and what can I do when I inevitably try to cheat?” before asking for the email.
The thing I’d want before signing up is a very specific failure-mode promise: does it remove only the infinite feed, and what still works when it is on? DMs, search, posting, links from friends, notifications.
For this category trust is the product, so a small “what changes / what stays usable / how to undo it” section would probably convert better than another motivation headline.
Hey 👋 just came across your project — nice work on this.
Quick question: are you focusing on growth right now or still in building phase?
If growth is the goal, I might have something useful to share 🚀
