If you've ever needed to write a message in Discord, a comment on LinkedIn, an email on Gmail, or a thread on Reddit in a language you don't speak natively, you know the loop. Write in your language. Switch tab. Open Google Translate or ChatGPT. Paste. Wait. Copy the result. Switch back. Re-find the cursor. Repeat.

It's the most common cross-language writing workflow on the web, and the basic shape hasn't meaningfully changed.

I built Fenly because the friction is the loop itself, not the translation. ChatGPT and Google Translate produce good translations. But neither helps when you're writing a message yourself. You still copy-paste back and forth between the message and the translator.

Fenly is a Chrome extension with three core translation flows, all in-place:

Type & Translate works in any input field on any website. You write in your native language, press a hotkey, and Fenly replaces the text with the translation directly in the same field. Discord message, LinkedIn DM, Upwork proposal, Gmail draft. You never leave the box.

Select & Translate lets you highlight any text on any website to get an instant popup translation. Foreign news article. Stack Overflow answer. Reddit thread. Just select the text and the translation appears right there.

Chat & Content Translation auto-translates incoming messages inline on 8 platforms: Discord, Slack, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, YouTube, Upwork, Gmail. You see the original and the translation side-by-side as they arrive.

Beyond the three core flows, Fenly also has three translation style modes for matching the tone of the channel, not just the words. The styles work when you translate text in the input field:
- Normal: clean and neutral, fits most professional and everyday writing.
- Slang: casual and alive, the register for Discord, gaming chats, friend DMs.
- Business: formal and polished, for LinkedIn outreach, client emails, professional negotiations.

Each style has Min/Max intensity. Min keeps the result closer to neutral, Max pushes the tone harder in the chosen direction. Slang at Max sounds noticeably casual; Business at Min reads professional but not stiff.
