FilesDesk

Your Downloads folder is a graveyard. document (1).pdf, Scan_0042.pdf, IMG_20241012_0873.jpg — none of it tells you what's actually inside. Searching for that one invoice from last March? Good luck.

FilesDesk is an AI-powered file renamer for Mac and Windows that reads your files and gives them clean, consistent, searchable names — automatically.

What makes it different:

🔒 Local OR Cloud — Your Choice — Run completely offline with Ollama or vLLM for full privacy, or bring your own API key from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or OpenRouter. Your keys, your control.

🧠 Smart AI Rename — Reads PDFs, contracts, invoices, receipts, screenshots, and photos. Extracts titles, dates, vendors, amounts, and metadata to generate meaningful filenames.

👁️ Vision-Powered — All AI providers support vision capabilities. OCR text from images, describe photos, analyze scanned documents. Built-in image optimization reduces API costs.

📝 Custom Templates & Prompts — Build naming patterns like {date}_{category}_{description} with transformations for case, spacing, and formatting. Or write your own AI prompts with template variables for precise control.

📂 Watch Folders — Drop files into a watched folder and they get renamed automatically as they arrive. Set it once and forget it.

⚡ Batch Processing — Queue-based processing handles large batches efficiently. Preview suggestions, pick the ones you want, apply instantly.

🔐 Secure & Private — With Offline Mode, Files stay on your computer.
