I launched Final Capsule in April, a dead man's switch for encrypted last messages. You write letters or passwords for your loved ones, and if you ever stop responding to periodic check-ins, a verification process kicks in and delivers them.

For three months I shipped features and assumed SEO would just compound in the background. This week I finally looked. Google had sent me 4 clicks in total. All four were people searching my brand name.

Digging in was humbling. Google crawled the site heavily in May, right when most of my 11 languages were still half-translated, so it judged the site on its worst pages and mostly stopped coming back. My homepage title was "Your words, beyond time", which is poetic and has literally zero search volume. Every URL in my sitemap redirected because of a trailing slash. I had never even set up Search Console, so the sitemap had never been submitted anywhere. And backlinks: zero. Not few. Zero.

So I spent two days fixing it all: keyword-first titles in every language, finished the translations properly, fixed the sitemap, verified Search Console, requested indexing. Googlebot went from 2 hits a day to over 500 the next day.

Now comes the part I was avoiding, which is building actual authority.

The lesson I keep coming back to: technical SEO is table stakes, not a strategy. A perfectly optimized site with zero links is a library book nobody has ever checked out.
