Finance Count
I built 18 free finance calculators in my spare time
I noticed that most free finance calculators online are either outdated, require email signup, or are just basic single-purpose tools with no real depth. Small business owners and freelancers in particular, especially outside the USA are badly underserved.
So I decided to build something better.
What I built
FinanceCount (finance-count.com) 18 free business finance calculators covering everything from VAT and tax to YouTube earnings and cost of living comparisons.
The tools that surprised me with their complexity:
Invoice generator - fully functional with line items, tax, currency, and PDF export
Job profit calculator - calculates true project profitability after all costs including your time
Payroll cost calculator - shows the real cost of hiring an employee beyond just salary
The tech stack
Pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No framework, no database, no backend.
I chose this stack deliberately - static sites are fast, cheap to host, and for a finance tool site where trust matters, that felt right.
The SEO strategy
Beyond the 18 tools, I built 100+ programmatic SEO pages targeting high-CPC finance queries:
Salary after tax for every income level across USA, UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa
Home loan repayment tables for specific amounts ($300k, $400k, $500k etc)
Credit card payoff calculators for specific debt amounts
Cost of living comparisons for 20+ city pairs
Where I am now
Site is live, indexed, and submitted to Google Search Console. Early days - no significant traffic yet but the foundation is solid.
What's next
More SEO pages (mortgage amounts, salary brackets, new countries), applying for AdSense once traffic is consistent, and potentially adding affiliate links for accounting software.
Happy to answer questions about the build, the SEO strategy, or anything else. And if you use any of the calculators — let me know what's missing! 🚀
About
I built FinanceCount because I kept seeing freelancers and small business owners undercharging, miscalculating VAT, or guessing their tax bill.
