June 11, 2026 I spent 30 days building a personal finance app because my friends had no idea where their money was going

A few months ago, I noticed something weird.

Almost every student around me knew their GPA, their screen time, and their Instagram followers.

But when I asked how much money they spent last month, most had no clue.

Not because they were irresponsible. They just weren't tracking it.

Most budgeting apps felt too complicated, required manual work, or were designed for people with salaries, investments, mortgages, and financial goals, not students.

So I decided to build FinBuddy.

The idea is simple: connect your bank transactions, automatically categorize spending, and get a clear picture of where your money goes without spreadsheets or manual tracking.

I'm currently launching the MVP and looking for honest feedback before building more features.

A question for founders here:

How did you get your first 10 real users when you had no audience and no existing distribution?

I'd love to hear what worked (and what didn't).

I realized that young Indians like me do not have any way of tracking their finances, and it's all just a shot in the dark. There are some software trying to fix the problem, but it's still to no avail.
