July 22, 2020 Launched the Finders/Keepers homepage

I've created the Finders/Keepers homepage using React and I've set up the membership platform that users can subscribe for.

Next steps - fill out the platform with interesting and relevant remote projects, that freelancers and agencies would be happy to apply to.

Very cool — congrats on getting the landing page going! Did you build the user auth/subscription aspect yourself? What was the experience like?

Thanks! For the auth/subscription part, I was considering a few things for a while:

      • Firebase
      • Auth0
      • Memberstack
      • Building it out myself with Node/GraphQL/MongoDB

Building it myself would've taken some time + there would surely be some issues with it and I didn't wanna mess with those things when it comes to processing payments.

Firebase and Auth0 are great and easy to integrate when it comes to authorizing users, but they don't have a straightforward solution to integrate with Stripe and hide specific content behind a paywall.

Memberstack is great at doing the latter, but it doesn't integrate well with React for some reason.

In the end, I opted for Ghost. I created a self-hosted Ghost publication and used a theme that has membership integrated. I'm currently working to customize that theme a little bit, so it matches my homepage branding.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you for sharing! Definitely good to hear that there are so many options out there to choose from — can only imagine things getting better from here over time for creators and indie hackers. 😄

About

There are hundreds of platforms out there, listing projects for designers and developers. I want to make it easier for freelancers and small agencies to find projects.
