FineBill
See when your bills are due—at a glance.
Just got my first monthly subscription for FineBill!
It's only $1.33, but seeing that first recurring revenue hit feels amazing.
Someone out there found enough value in my little bill reminder app to pay
for it every month.
FineBill is a simple "visibility app" — no expense tracking, no budgeting,
no bank linking. Just clear reminders of when your bills are due through
widgets and Apple Watch complications.
Small win, but it's proof that the concept works. Onward! 🚀
Hey IH! 👋
I just launched FineBill, a simple iOS app for tracking bill due dates.
The problem: I kept missing credit card payments. Not because I didn't have money—I just forgot when they were due. Calendar apps buried them, and every finance app wanted me to link bank accounts and track budgets. Way more than I needed.
The solution: A widget-first app that shows upcoming due dates at a glance. No budgeting, no bank linking, no expense tracking. Just "when to pay."
What it does: • Track recurring bills with due dates • Home screen widgets for daily visibility • Apple Watch app with complications • iCloud sync across devices
What it doesn't do: Everything else. I intentionally rejected features to keep it simple.
Currently at $0 MRR, bootstrapped, and learning as I go. Would love feedback from fellow indie hackers!

I've been wishing for something like this! I use Android, so I'll keep wishing :) I hope you have great success!

Thank you! Good to know there’s interest on Android — I’ll keep that in mind for the future. No promises yet, but it’s noted! 🙏

This is a great example of ruthless simplicity. I really like how clearly you articulated what it doesn’t do — that restraint is hard, but it’s usually what makes tools stick.
The widget-first approach makes a lot of sense for a “when to pay” problem. Curious what surprised you most during the build or launch so far?

Thanks! Really appreciate that.
Biggest surprise so far: how hard it was to say “no” to features. Every time I thought “maybe I should add amount tracking” or “maybe budgeting would be nice,” I had to remind myself that’s not what this app is for. Staying focused felt almost unnatural at first.
On the launch side — honestly surprised by how quiet it’s been. No viral moment, just slow and steady. Learning that shipping is the easy part; getting noticed is the real challenge.

Great concept, the simplicity of FineBill is its strength! By focusing on the core problem, missed due dates, you're offering a clear, no-frills solution. As a digital marketer, I can appreciate the focus on user-centric design and daily visibility through widgets. I’d recommend considering AI-driven reminders or personalized notifications as you scale to enhance user engagement. Best of luck with the launch!

Thanks! Though I’m intentionally avoiding smart/AI features — the goal is quiet visibility, not more notifications competing for attention

That’s an interesting approach — doing less, but doing it well. A focused bill reminder can be far more useful than bloated apps that try to manage everything. Simplicity, clarity, and reliability are often exactly what people need when it comes to staying on top of bills. Wishing you success with FineBill!

Nice concept! Doing less on purpose can actually make a product more useful — fewer distractions, clearer reminders, and better focus on what really matters. FineBill sounds like a refreshing take on bill reminders.

actually think this is pretty cool. How long did it take you guys?

Thanks! It's a solo side project. Started on Nov 25, so about 3 weeks in—working around 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. Maybe 30 hours total so far. Keeping the scope tiny helped ship fast.

Nice concept, simple tools like this really shine when the legal side is kept just as clear, especially around terms, privacy, and data handling for users.

Interesting launch. I like the idea of FineBill doing less on purpose—sometimes simple reminders are all people really need without extra clutter or features getting in the way. Tools that quietly prevent missed bills can save both money and stress.
That same “keep it simple mindset matters in everyday services too, like making sure essential home appliances work when you need them. For example, local professionals such as Appliance Repair Cedar Rapids focus on straightforward solutions that solve real problems without unnecessary complications.

Nice work, shipping is hard.
Curious: how are you handling spam / bot abuse on this yet?-
1
Thanks! Since FineBill is a local-only app with no accounts or backend, spam/bot abuse isn’t really applicable. All data stays on the user’s device or their personal iCloud.

A 30 sec - 1 minute explainer video would go a long way in making people understand Finebill
I would help you with that
About
I kept missing credit card due dates. Calendar apps buried them, and budgeting apps were overkill. So I built a simple widget to see when bills are due—nothing more.
