It's been a while since posting here - Finn's Fishing Tips brought in over $300 for the month of August! Since summer is prime time for fishing, it will be interesting to track the seasonality as we progress to fall.

So I've been pretty busy over the last two weeks... I acquired another web property! You can check it out here: (https://babyloveswings.com/). The focus is on Amazon affiliates but I'll soon be adding Ezoic to it to diversify revenue. Very pleased so far with the transition process and looking forward to growing the site!
Last week I finally launched Ezoic ads! It will take 30 to 45 days to optimize how many ads it shows users as well as ad placements on my site. So far I'm averaging about $5 a day.

So I learned today that Ezoic requires 10,000 sessions NOT users per month to join their platform. I'm going to come up just shy of 10,000 users for July, but I'm already over 10,000 sessions. Ezoic here I come!
So last week when I posted about averaging 500 users a day, I was including a sizeable chunk of traffic coming from Google Discover. Google Discover is great, but I learned quickly that the traffic boost is inconsistent. Over a 2 week period, I was getting 200 to 300 users from Google discover, but now it's dropped down to 50. What's the key to getting on Google Discover? Stay tuned...

💪 Eager to hear about how to get on Google Discover — did I miss an update or should I just be patient?
Now that I'm averaging over 500 unique visitors a day, I'm contemplating adding Adsense ads before getting on Ezoic. I'm definitely leaving money on the table waiting, but I don't want Google's algorithm to balk if I add ads. For now, I think I'm going to wait.
Another important milestone was hit this week - we hit over 500 users in one day! It's mostly coming from several articles, but it's a good sign for other articles ranking potential. It's also looking like we'll be able to set up Ezoic by August :)

It felt like we were just celebrating 200, and we're already onto 300! Finn's Fishing Tips hit 300 over the weekend (woohoo). 300 users a day is a big milestone because if we keep it up for a month we'll be eligible for the Ezoic ad network. Which means more $$$. Stay tuned!
The 4th of July weekend proved to be a big one at Finn's Fishing Tips - we blew past 100 users and logged our first 200 user day on Saturday. A lot of the articles I wrote last month are starting to rank and bringing in traffic. Once we hit ~300 users per day I'll be able to start monetizing the traffic with display ads (if I so choose).

I don't want to jinx it... but we're on track to have our first 100 user day this week! Several more articles are beginning to rank on the first page, which is boosting our traffic significantly. I'll also be posting our affiliate revenues for last month soon!

What's the main metric that you track? As in, what is the one metric, where if it goes up, it is a leading indicator that your business is growing? Is it users?

Great question! I'd say there are 3 metrics I pay close attention to: unique visits (users), affiliate clicks, and affiliate conversions. But if I had to pick one, it would be unique visits. There's many ways to monetize a high traffic website.
