FinWise Conceptualized

My wife and I have been interested in personal finance and investing ever since getting our first pay cheques as a junior software engineers in 2016.

After my first pay cheque arrived, I started building a Google Spreadsheet to help me budget and track my investments. Initially the spreadsheet was quite basic, but over time I added more and more functionality to it, including things like growth forecasts and retirement draw down projections etc.

Over time, I started speaking to more and more friends, colleagues and people about my spreadsheets, and people got interested and wanted to see my sheets.

After realizing how many people were interested in my spreadsheets, I created a template version of my spreadsheet and started sharing it with friends. After just a few weeks, my template had been shared with over 150 people.

It was this moment which planted the seed for us to build FinWise - people wanted a better way to manage and visualize their money.

Fast-forward to today, and my wife and I have decided to turn those old spreadsheets into a product people can use: FinWiseApp.io
