FinWise
Budgeting, wealth tracking, personal finance management, AI
It took us a little longer to implement 2FA than we would have liked, but we listened to our user's requests and last week we focussed heavily on making FinWise more secure.
To enable 2FA and add another layer of security to your FinWise account, go to Settings > Profile > 2FA.

We have implemented the ability for you to sync accounts that require 2FA. When you sync an account that requires 2FA, you will now be prompted to enter the required 2FA directly on FinWise.

You can now import, export and manage the balance history for your accounts. This is helpful if you want to import your balance history from another service like Mint or Monarch into FinWise.
To manage your balance history, go to Accounts > Select an account > Manage Balance History

You can now see your budget broken down by calendar days. This is a great way to get a quick overview of your budget, broken down by day! You can also click on a day to see the transactions for that day.
Try it out by going to Budget > Calendar.
More coming soon!

We just launched a new feature called roll-over budgets! This allows you to have any under or over spending from previous months roll over into the current month.
It's helpful for tracking spend over months in case you over spend, and for letting you save or spend more if you underspend in the previous month.
You can enable roll-over budgets for your categories to have any under or over spending from the previous month roll over into the following month.
You can either enable roll-over globally for all categories from Settings > Preferences, or roll-over can be configured per category by editing a category and enabling roll over.

Today we've set up our profile on IndieHackers, and back-dated a few posts to show you how FinWise came to be :)
We're excited to be on IndieHackers to share and engage with the community, and hopefully get some feedback for improving FinWise.
We're excited to be here, and be sure to follow along on our journey! :)

Today we launched our initial MVP with Plaid integration so that people can connect their bank accounts.
The product is very basic and stripped down, but hopefully has enough to interest users on our waiting list.
We've implemented the core functionality of being able to connect bank accounts and set up a budget. Most of the rest of the site has "Coming soon" banners to show people what is coming next and to gauge interest.

Over 70 people joined our waiting list in the first 3 days! We're ecstatic about this and can't wait to launch our initial MVP.
Over 70 people signed-up and we spoke with 18 of them over Zoom to learn more about what they thought of FinWise.
We're quite certain there is a market for something like FinWise now, and we now need to figure out what to how to best build and address this market.

Today we launched our initial basic landing page with a TypeForm call-to-action to try to gauge interest in FinWise as we envisioned it.
The website is super basic, but hopefully enough to convey our plans and intent with FinWise and to get people to join the waiting list and register their interest!

My wife and I have been interested in personal finance and investing ever since getting our first pay cheques as a junior software engineers in 2016.
After my first pay cheque arrived, I started building a Google Spreadsheet to help me budget and track my investments. Initially the spreadsheet was quite basic, but over time I added more and more functionality to it, including things like growth forecasts and retirement draw down projections etc.
Over time, I started speaking to more and more friends, colleagues and people about my spreadsheets, and people got interested and wanted to see my sheets.
After realizing how many people were interested in my spreadsheets, I created a template version of my spreadsheet and started sharing it with friends. After just a few weeks, my template had been shared with over 150 people.
It was this moment which planted the seed for us to build FinWise - people wanted a better way to manage and visualize their money.
Fast-forward to today, and my wife and I have decided to turn those old spreadsheets into a product people can use: FinWiseApp.io
