Where headaches get real answers

December 18, 2025 An AI-first approach to headache care

I’m a neurologist who’s spent years watching patients with disabling headaches struggle to get clear answers. Many cycle through primary care, urgent care, and the ER, then wait months to see a specialist. By the time they do, the issue often isn’t lack of treatment options. It’s that the diagnostic process broke down early.

Headache diagnosis is complex. It requires careful history-taking, exclusion of secondary causes, and structured reasoning grounded in clinical guidelines. Done well, it takes time, attention, and consistency, which are exactly the things the current system struggles to provide at scale.

Before medicine, I worked as a software architect. That background made it obvious to me that this kind of structured clinical reasoning, when done carefully and correctly, is something AI can support extremely well if it’s built around real medical knowledge and guidelines.

So I started building FIRY AI.

FIRY is an AI-first headache clinic that systematically gathers the right history, applies guideline-based reasoning, and helps people understand what kind of headache they may have and what appropriate next steps look like. The focus is on getting the diagnosis right early, not after years of trial and error.

It’s early, and we’re iterating quickly. If you’ve lived with chronic headaches, built healthcare products, or are thinking deeply about where AI truly belongs in medicine, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
