October 9, 2024 FitnessMentor.ai Accepted to the Apple App Store! 🎉

Hello IndieHackers Community,

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news—FitnessMentor.ai has officially launched on the Apple App Store! After two months of development and navigating Apple's stringent review process, we've successfully made it live for iOS users to start their fitness journeys with us.

Overcoming Apple's Hurdles

Apple's review team provided insightful feedback to ensure our app meets the highest standards of quality and safety. One of their key requirements was the inclusion of citations for all health and fitness recommendations within the app. This fantastic feedback strengthened the daily report feature, making it more insightful and educational.

Android Version Needs You!

While the iOS version is now available, we're not stopping here. We're gearing up to launch the Android version and need your help to release it to production. Android requires 20 testers to test the app for 14 days prior to launch. If you're an Android user and interested in being part of this beta testing phase, please reply to this post, and I'll add you to the list.

October 2, 2024 Simplify Nutrition Tracking with FitnessMentor.ai

I've struggled with weight for quite a while. I can't lie; I love to eat and drink—probably a bit too much. About a decade ago, I lost a bunch of weight with keto, and since then, I thought keto was the only way to lose weight. However, ten years later, it no longer worked.

In May 2024, I looked in the mirror and was absolutely disgusted by my lack of progress. I was doing keto, and I seemed to have gained weight! Something needed to change. So, a month later, I hired a nutrition coach. I was forced to track my meals via a mobile app, and my coach would give me feedback on what needed to change. It was absolutely fantastic. However, it cost $299 per month (for the lowest tier). As amazing as it was, I couldn't afford to make those monthly payments. About a month into using my nutrition coach, I came up with the idea of an AI coach and got to work in September 2024 to make it happen.

Now, I've finally finished my proof-of-concept. Users can create an account complete with their fitness goals, height, weight, calorie and macronutrient targets; track their meals via short descriptions and/or meal pictures; and get daily feedback on how they ate with respect to their goal.

In my opinion, it's the act of tracking meals and being honest with oneself that brings about the change needed to lose fat or gain muscle. For the most part, everyone has a general idea of what they need to do to lose weight; they just need to track their progress and perhaps get a daily push to reach their goals. That's where FitnessMentor.ai comes in. It's a daily tracker with an AI mentor to give you the push you need!

I'm currently looking for alpha testers to meet the Android testing requirement. For now, it's free, and I'm rewarding early testers with three free months at product launch. Drop your email below, and I'll add you to the TestFlight and Android email list.

Tracking my meals was the key to losing weight, but it shouldn't be tedious. We need a simple way to jot down a description or snap a picture and get a ballpark estimate of calories and macros.
