  • Made rough designs on Canva for logo and the layout
  • Added a page to my website about with the details - https://daizymaan.com/fittehmuh/
  • Forced my housemate to make a video with me to demonstrate how to play (editing took a while, first-ever video I've edited and posted to Youtube publicly) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JTy44OoM5Y&t=2s
  • Shared it via my Instagram and Facebook stories asking for my friends to submit words via typeform (I need at least 200 Punajbi words).
  • Tried to do all the above in 3-4 hours. Had fun while I was at it.

June 29, 2020 Came up with the idea & wrote in Notion

Growing up in Australia I was not allowed to speak English at home, my mother refused to speak in English to me (despite being a teacher here) because she had a strong conviction that we'd learn English as easily as we'd forget our mother tongue.

As a teenager I was really mean about it saying things like "Why'd you migrate here if you didn't want us to speak English"... wonder where that came from #paulinehanson

Anyhow later in life, I became incredibly appreciative, my knowing Punjabi means whenever I travel India I can speak Punjabi and also understand Hindi it also helped me connect with relatives who still live in India and have an appreciation for the culture.

The idea for the actual game came up when I was playing board games with my sister and 9 year old niece out in country Victoria and just thought wouldn't it be fun to play games in Punjabi and she could also learn a thing or two since she understands Punjabi but doesn't speak it at all. And it's hilariously adorable watching her try to explain things in her broken Punjabi.

About

It's for fun! I realised there are next to no fun Punjabi board / card games. I love speaking Punjabi at home and it's my mother tongue so I thought why not create a fun game during covid.
