fjordFIRE
Privacy-first FIRE planning for money that crosses borders
fjordFIRE is a FIRE and financial-independence planner for people whose money spans more than one currency and country: expats, immigrants, cross-border couples, digital nomads.
If your income is in one currency, your savings in another, and perhaps your family obligations in a third, most FIRE tools don't handle your situation very well and may quietly hand you the wrong number. fjordFIRE is built around that problem instead of ignoring it.
Every calculation is currency-aware. It separates actual saving from currency movement through FX attribution. Couples can track separate FI numbers, and you can revalue your portfolio in another currency using that country's cost of living if you're thinking about relocating or retiring.
Money is split across four pillars instead of being treated as one big number: Protect (the safety net), Growth (the FIRE engine), Retire (locked retirement), and Move (money available to relocate).
It runs on manual monthly check-ins, not bank logins. No transaction scraping, and no data sold. There's also an optional in-app AI assistant , which does not train on your data.
Made in Oslo, Norway. Open to everyone, free.
About
fjordFIRE started because we wanted to answer one question for ourselves before we could answer it for anyone else: how much freedom had the money we saved actually bought us? Enough for a break? Enough to move?

The cross-border focus is unusually specific for a FIRE product. I’m curious whether users mainly discover fjordFIRE because of the currency problem or the broader expat/cross-border situation.
Thanks for your reply, Aryan. Yes, you're right, it is. When I moved to Norway in 2024, it became increasingly challenging for my wife and I to manage an overview of the finances spanning 2 countries and a little in a third. And the Excel I was maintaining since 2022 couldn't keep up. So, I started trying to solve the problem for our household and then it eventually led to building fjordFIRE and making it available for everyone with expats (like me) at the core. And since I started this for my own use, I kept it based on check-ins where you genuinely slow down and become part of the journey instead of just seeing the numbers move. And sometimes you do not even know if it is you moving them or if it is the currency volatility.
Ofcourse, fjordFIRE works just as well for individuals or households that aren't multi-currency or multi-country yet, or those who do not plan to relocate elsewhere yet. But they may. Especially when Financial Independence can model that within itself. :)
That origin story makes the positioning much clearer. I’d be interested in hearing what you’re seeing from the first users — what’s the best email to reach you on?
