Community for fans of the TV show Diners Drive-ins and Dives
Since the explosion of AdBlocking on the interwebs, my site has suffered like everyone else I suppose.
My new marketing focus is to highlight my mobile apps, affiliate marketing and use more social media & email campaigns to bring more awareness.
I can already tell that my excel spreadsheet is not going to cut it to keep track of what content went out when? and what's coming up? and on what platforms? etc.
Love to know what others are using?
Of course, if I can't find what I need, this might be a great product for me to build. I could probably use a SME for that besides myself.
Will minimizing & streamlining my site work for the community?
Will de-indexing some sections of low quality content help me rank better at the Googles?
It's not low quality content if you're part of the community, it's just that when the community shares on those page sections like questions, recommendations, photos, videos, news etc. they tend to share minimally and write only a few sentences so the Google sees those page sections as low quality, hence they drop me in ranking
Couple Changes Below:
-
When the site started and grew to #4 on the Google ... I was only focusing on the TripleD restaurants, those restaurants comments, photos and videos so I'm moving back to that.
-
I've started to de-index all those page sections that are considered "low quality" for the search engines.
2a. The page sections will be there for the community but I won't index them to search engines until they have more valuable content (I need to encourage those page sections to have better written community content)
I'll let you know if this helped? Moving my site to be hyper focused again and only build for what the community clicks on and what the searches need to bring them both together.
??? If what I'm doing is wrong, please let me know.
??? If you have ideas, let me know.

I stopped doing email marketing a long time ago when my list got to big for MailChimp and it was getting costly to stay.
I can look back say that it was a mistake to stop as I should've doubled down at that time but no worries, I couldn't tell you if that would've worked. I can only move forward...
With the advent of AdBlocking, my site took a major hit to MRR so I've had to move towards promoting my mobile app and affiliate marketing.
I looked at a lot email providers and settled on mailerlite.com because their price fit what I want to spend and then being able to segment and group my subscriber list was clean and easy to do.
The kicker thought, was their UI, it was simple to use and intuitive so Bravo to the mailerlite.com team!

When the show came out, finding the restaurants was hard to do. I created this to help the community find them quickly and am growing it to add more user generated content so others can share their experiences.
