Flickcall started gaining traction from word of mouth and soon expanded to 20,000+ sticky users. We kept listening feedback to users, conducted public polls. A lot users needed support for Youtube. Finally we expanded platform support to Netflix, Youtube, Primevideo, Hotstar & Zee5. Additionally we added support for audio and video chat - a feature most demanded in our competitor - Teleparty.
Published the bare minimum version that only supports group chat and just one platform - Netflix. It was important to proof usability of the product without going into width. I was actively looking for feedback from community for find next set of features.
Planned a watch party with my Niece. Googling quickly revealed that Primevideo has watch party option so we scheduled a time. Everyone was excited only to realize later that amazon doesn't support that feature in India and I was boooooed. Thats when I started planning this feature and researching the gaps in current products.
